Independent Study Project - Tyler Graybill
Tyler investigated the effects of computer modeling errors on the predictions of the structural behavior of the vaults of the English Gothic Cathedral Beverley Minster, Beverley, UK. The project involved the modeling of one bay of main nave with using the correct survey data in frame analyses program STAAD. In the next phase, the dimensions of the single bay model were modified 10 % in the transverse direction. The variations in the axial and shear forces carried by the vertical elements of the church were investigated. The geometric dimensions and material properties were provided by the instructor. Tyler was expected to properly build the model, obtain results and write a discussion about the findings.
